"SINGING INSTRUMENTS!” an interactive exhibition for children and adults alike to explore making music with unusual instruments. The custom-built instruments intentionally resemble everyday objects: four sink with taps form a singing quartet, five bicycle wheels creak rhythmically, and a dresser with seven drawers conjures up complex sounds. These items are used to prompt a form of ‘intuitive music’. The experimental music project is part of the series "Voices of Umea" by Swedish composer Anders Lind. The exhibition will include 10 workshops for children and teenagers along with artists from Berlin and Iceland during the Berlin holiday program.
An exhibition by the University of Umeå, supported by Umeå - European Capital of Culture 2014, Swedish Arts Council, Embassy of Sweden and Swedish Interactive Institute, ICT. Graphic Design: www.studiowith.se
